Sorry, the student committee does not support this site and will not supply us with any information - hence nothing new. If you would like to see this feature restored, please lobby your student rep. November 17th 2003

28 March 2003

Matters raised wih Heather Barratt-Mold (Principal) - her response will be posted later

There are quite a few issues, some of which have been ongoing for some time.

Common Room

A lot of time and money has been spent (by us!) doing up the common room over the last summer, but there is still work to do.  The window is still broken (replacement requested twice), and the heater which has been installed is useless!

Canteen

Still problems here.

Hot and cold water dispenser needed (now in place)

More options for healthier food.  Quality and variety could be improved.

Cheaper prices (some subsidising of cost to students)

Staff attitude to students not always good

Suggestion box (now in place in canteen and reception)

Food hygiene certificates should be on display

Canteen should make a profit (does at Pershore)

Hats, hair nets should be worn (hats now worn)

Staff Help

No staff support volunteered when needed for discos etc.

Blue Shed

Has not been available for us to use for the last two years.  A completely wasted resource!

Student Recreation

There used to be a recreation officer to organise activities.

Pitches need marking out for hockey, football and rugby.  This cannot be done because of Project Carrot.

Upstairs Computer Room

This is being locked when no classes are using it, preventing use at break and lunchtime.  Could not someone be found to monitor the room over lunchtime to prevent vandalism?

Staff have been asked to make computers available for private study during lesson time, if they are not all being used.

Heather Barratt-Mold (the Principal)

We do not know her.  She has spoken to staff and invited them to put problems to her.  Could she not do the same for the student body?

Website (from GP)

Now has a link from the Pershore Group of Colleges site (they would not even do that for the old official Holme Lacy site!), and is currently getting an average forty visits a day.  Use it as much as possible for whatever purpose (preferably legal).

Children in Need

The committee came up with the idea of people dressing up in school uniform. During the day, David from the 1st Dip. Agriculture would be having his head shaved, and Anthony from Leisure and Recreation having his legs shaved to raise more for Children in Need.

The total amount raised will be announced soon.

Christmas Party

The Christmas Party will be on 6th December in the Orchard Block.  It will start at 8pm and finish at 12 o'clock.  Transport to and from college will be arranged, but we are still looking for drivers.  If you know anybody who can help, please let the committee know a.s.a.p.

Christmas Tree

We are getting a tree for the orchard block on Friday 29th lunch time.  We will be decorating it Friday afternoon, (volunteers needed).

Rugby

Every week there will be training over the far field.  We need to check shirt numbers. Ask Kristian (1st Dip. Agriculture)

Football

4th December at Pershore

Golf

Can organise golf coaching for after Christmas but need to know numbers.  See Lynda Bennett.

Nottingham

18 years+ only to be organised for after Christmas - see Tony or Colin for more information.
